An unoccupied Federal Way police vehicle rolled down a hill and crashed into a home after the officer failed to put his car in park on Monday evening.

The officer was responding to a rollover vehicle accident at approximately 6:22 p.m. at 32614 35th Ave. SW, said Cathy Schrock, police spokeswoman. The car had flipped over after it hit a parked car.

The police vehicle crashed into the home’s living room area, causing damages. However, no one in the home was injured. South King Fire and Rescue responded and structurally secured the home.

The 57-year-old driver of the car that rolled over was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Schrock said. The cause of the collision is unknown.
