Federal Way Noon Rotary raises $20,000 for Communities In Schools mentor program

The Federal Way Noon Rotary Club raised $20,000 for the Communities In Schools (CIS) of Federal Way’s mentoring program.

The Federal Way Noon Rotary Club raised $20,000 for the Communities In Schools (CIS) of Federal Way’s mentoring program Jan. 29 at the club’s annual auction. Each year, the Rotary Club chooses a local organization to support with the auction. The CIS mentoring program matches caring adult mentors with students who need some extra support and someone to listen to them as they navigate the often difficult years of adolescence.

“We are very grateful for the support of the Rotary Club and everyone who donated,” said Pete Gonzales, president of the CIS board of directors, in a news release. “This money will go a long way

in helping us serve more students by matching them with a caring adult mentor.”

Rotary Club President Don Heinkel presented the check to CIS on Feb. 2 at the Federal Way Chamber of Commerce luncheon. To learn more about becoming a mentor, contact Doug Baxter at (253) 528-0847 or dougb@federalwaychamber.com.
