Federal Way hires consultant to search for new city manager

On Aug. 4, the city council approved hiring Seattle-based Prothman Company to conduct the search for a new city manager.

Federal Way will pay the consultant $22,500 for its services. An additional $6,180 may be spent on expenses as well as business and operation taxes. If site visits are required, those could cost up to $1,500 each. The city tentatively plans to hold final interviews for candidates on Dec. 14.

The city council is currently seeking citizens to serve on a board that will help identify favorable qualities in a Federal Way city manager. Citizen interviews of the candidates are scheduled for the week beginning Aug. 24.
