The cost of a DUI conviction in Federal Way is the fourth most expensive in the state, according to a recent study.
The minimum fine is $7,210.50. The maximum could be $11,270.
The true cost was calculated based on the fine, legal fees, an ignition interlock device and insurance premium increases. The study was conducted by NerdWallet, a consumer advocacy website.
On average Federal Way residents pay $1,045.50 a year for car insurance. After a DUI conviction, however, that price could jump to $1,639.50, according to the study results.
The top 10 most expensive cities found by the study are:
1. Tacoma, minimum $7,398.80, maximum $11,458.30
