A Federal Way man was sentenced to 90 days on Friday after he pleaded guilty to robbing a Seattle bank of about $78,000 last December.

In addition to the 90 days of home detention, Dararath Mok, 35, has agreed to pay back $79,838.63. King County prosecutors agreed that 30 days of his confinement can be converted to 240 hours of community restitution.

He is also not to have any contact with Home Street Bank, the bank he robbed on Dec. 24, 2014.

Mok was an employee when he entered the bank through an unlocked door, used his personal code to disarm the alarm system and taped the cameras so that he could steal thousands of dollars from a vault.

Police arrested Mok on Dec. 29, 2014 after discovering he used his own code to gain access.

According to court documents, he confessed to police he stole the money by himself because he had some family medical issues and was concerned about being unable to pay for them.

His family consented to a search of their residence and police found a box of money.

At that time, they recovered $44,494 of the $77,994.

He later told police $8,00 to $9,000 was missing because he gambled at a casino days after he robbed the bank.

Mok has no prior convictions or criminal history.
