“I ride past this daily sometimes twice and never even notice,” resident Cheryl Fry posted on Facebook.

Construction began this summer on an expanded library at 848 S. 320th Street. The new library is scheduled to open next year. Improvements include more parking, study rooms and seating, along with a multipurpose room.

The 320th Library first opened in 1970. The site is now surrounded with a chain link fence as construction crews remove the rubble and reshape the landscape.

During construction, patrons are encouraged to use the Federal Way Regional Library, 34200 1st Way S. The library is open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.
