USPS truck raid: At 10:41 a.m. in the 1700 block of South Commons, there was a report that an unknown suspect forcibly entered a USPS postal truck and stole more than two trays of undelivered mail and packages while parked in front of Pet Supplies Plus at the Commons Mall.

Teens damage golf cart: At noon in the 2200 block of South Star Lake Road, there was a report that two teenagers had stolen a golf cart. The golf cart was located in a neighboring apartment complex, and the cart sustained $750 worth of damage. There was no video footage showing who the teens were.

Elementary schoolers prank call 911: At 3:10 p.m. at a Federal Way elementary school, there was a report that unidentified children had called 911 and made claims that there was someone with a knife, that they were being kidnapped and that their bus driver was trying to kill their friends. The call occurred after school when children were being picked up. Both police and school faculty checked the area and did not observe any suspicious circumstances. The phone number that was used was a 911-only phone and could not be called back. School faculty stated that they would conduct further investigation, but the call appeared to be a prank or a hoax.

Juveniles destroying property at pool: At 1:08 p.m. in the 28000 block of 18th Avenue South, there was a report that three unidentified older juvenile males pulled wooden boards off the fence around the complex pool, climbed onto the roof of the pool pump house and were throwing rocks. The juveniles fled when confronted by management, and management repaired the fence by nailing the boards back up. Management reported the juveniles were not residents, but suspected they lived in neighboring complexes.

Elementary school prank callers confronted: At 11:52 a.m. at a Federal Way elementary school, two students who had made prank calls to 911 the day prior, reporting serious false statements, were identified during an all-school assembly to address the issue. The students were disciplined according to school protocol, and the Thomas Jefferson High School school resource officer was requested to speak with the students about the seriousness of the allegation and how the calls were disruptive to the city.

Teens caught smoking marijuana: At 8:04 a.m. in the 32000 block of 26th Avenue Southwest, a school resource officer for a Federal Way high school reported that he observed four students standing at the benches in Lake Ponce de Leon Park. The officer said he saw a student take a hit off a blunt as he arrived and parked. The officer said he recognized all four students, and they left before he could arrive at their location. The officer said several students entered one of the suspect’s vehicles and left. The officers observed a RAW labelled blunt paper, which was still warm and smelled heavily of marijuana. The officer tested the contents of the paper, and it tested positive for marijuana. The suspect student was contacted at school, provided the case number and resources. The student was advised that if he was caught again, the case would be sent to prosecutors. Parents and the school were advised.

Girls fighting at school: At 12:07 p.m. at a Federal Way high school, there was a fight between two girls. Both girls were suspended. One of the girls then messaged the other and told her she was going to pull up, and she told her to get ready for round two. No probable cause for a crime was established.

Robbery: At 8:11 p.m. in the 2200 block of South Star Lake Road, the reporting party stated that he was robbed at gunpoint by two masked suspects. He did not want to provide a recorded statement.

Gun turned in at school: At 10:40 p.m. at a Federal Way school, there was a report that a security guard had located a handgun in a purse that an unknown person turned in. The officer collected the handgun that he had removed from the purse and submitted it to the Federal Way Police Department as evidence.

May 10

Hit and run turns into DUI: At 12:41 p.m. in the 31000 block of Pacific Highway South, there was a report of a collision at Stars Bar and Grill. The driver of a pickup truck reversed into an unoccupied SUV and attempted to flee the scene as the bar was closing for the night. On-duty security observed the location and stopped the male from leaving. He was later arrested for driving under the influence and booked into jail.

Robbery: At 11:45 p.m. in the 35000 block of 16th Avenue South, there was a report of a robbery at Park 16 Apartments. The victim was robbed at gunpoint by the individuals he arranged to meet.

May 11

Illegal discharge: At 3:13 a.m. in the 2200 block of Southwest 356th Street, there was a report of an illegal discharge at the Hitching Post Saloon. After searching the area, fired cartridges were found.

$2,200 of tools stolen: At 3 p.m. in the 1900 block of Southwest 320th Street, there was a report that a maintenance manager checked on the maintenance room and discovered that $2,200 of tools had been stolen.

Middle school fight: At 8:49 a.m. at a Federal Way middle school, the reporting party stated that her daughter had been assaulted by two other female students. The reporting party said that the school had footage of the incident, and it was also on social media.
