Following is a sample from the Federal Way police log:

• Surprise, sorry about your kid: At 5:08 p.m. Jan. 18 in the 100 block of Southwest Campus Drive, it was reported that two women were inside a man’s apartment to prepare for a surprise birthday party for the man. At that time, the man’s dog bit a child, causing minor facial injuries. According to the report, the man complained that the visitors were not supposed to be in his apartment and the dog was just defending its property. The child was taken to the hospital, according to the report.

• Choir chaos: At 7:49 a.m. Jan. 15 at Federal Way High School, a teacher reported to police that a female student had become enraged when the Federal Way choir teacher asked her to wait outside the classroom while the choir was having a rehearsal before school, according to police. The student damaged several choir trophies, disrupted rehearsal and intimidated staff and students, according to the report.

• Bouncy toy assault?: At 7:25 p.m. Jan. 15 in the 1900 block of South Commons, a mother reported that her 5-year-old daughter was assaulted by a group of 5- and 6-year-old children while playing at the Super Bouncy Play House inside The Commons Mall, according to a police report. The child victim had no visible injuries or complaints of pain. The mom reported that she did not see the assault because she was busy using her laptop and not paying attention to her daughter, according to the police report. There were no witnesses.

• Too much gas gets you punched: At 5:03 p.m. Jan. 16 in the 27000 block of Pacific Highway South, a worker reported that he gave a male suspect too much money on his gas pump. When the worker confronted the man about the mistake, the suspect punched him in the face, according to the police report. The suspect then got back in his vehicle before getting out again and punching the worker three more times. The suspect was gone when police arrived.

• The old glue-on-the-toothbrush prank: At 2:25 p.m. Jan. 17 in the 31000 block of 23rd Avenue South, a woman reported that she had been in a non-dating relationship with a man who lives a few doors away from her. The woman stated that she believes the man was taking money from her account and had put Elmer’s Glue on her toothbrush. Police advised the woman to get an anti-harassment order against the man if it continued.

• Wrong truck for drug deal: At 3:03 a.m. Jan. 19 in the 34000 block of 16th Avenue South, a woman was shopping at Walmart, and when she finished, she noticed an unknown black male leaning on her truck with the door open, according to a police report. The victim yelled at the man and told him to get out of her truck. The suspect then told the woman that he was not breaking into her vehicle and that he was making a marijuana delivery, according to the report. He claimed he must have entered the wrong vehicle and then sped away in another vehicle. The woman reported nothing was taken.

• Not what you want to find on your car: At 9:17 a.m. Jan. 19 in the 28000 block of 20th Avenue South, a victim awoke to find her vehicles had been vandalized with white spray paint, according to a police report. Unknown suspects had sprayed a Vietnamese word that means “whore” in English. According to the victim, her brother had recently broken up with a girl, who had “taken it pretty bad.” According to the report, the woman speaks Vietnamese. There were no witnesses.

• DUI: At 12:21 a.m. Jan. 20 in the 31000 block of 1st Avenue South, several witnesses saw a vehicle in a single-car collision that left the scene, according to a police report. The vehicle was located several blocks later and the man was arrested for driving under the influence.

• Suicide: At 11:10 a.m. Jan. 20 at an undisclosed location, neighbors found a man outside of their garage with a single gunshot wound to his head and a handgun between his legs, according to a police report. The man was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
