Federal Way Public Schools (FWPS) Educational Programs and Operations (EPO) replacement levy is passing, with 54.37% voting yes so far, according to results posted by King County at 8:05 p.m. 13,750 ballots have been counted so far, which is about 21 percent of the registered voters in Federal Way.

FWPS Superintendent Rob Neu said district officials are pleased with the early results so far.

“We greatly appreciate the support the community has shown,” he said. “We are optimistic about the initial results, and we will continue to monitor the results as they are posted. We look forward to continuing to provide high-quality programs and services.”

The levy is asking for $53 million a year between the years 2015-2018, and makes up about 20 percent of the district budget annually.

Voters approved the last EPO levy in 2012  with 56.2 percent of voters saying yes at the time.

UPDATE: The levy continues to look like it will pass, with 55.19 percent voting yes after the latest election results were released Wednesday afternoon. According to King County elections, 22.82 percent of ballots have been counted so far.
