Denise Yun recently announced she is seeking election to Federal Way City Council Position 7.
“We need a fresh perspective to enact real change, and we need new leadership without political ambitions to stop our problems from worsening, and who is in touch with the complex problems and needs of the community,” Yun said in her announcement.
Yun said her job is to make sure local families and small businesses are protected and to make Federal Way known as a safe and enjoyable city to visit and live in.
Yun’s professional career includes working as a licensed nurse in outpatient treatment centers for people who are addicted to substances like fentanyl, which she says is the most significant public health crisis in America. She also has experience as a business development consultant in Federal Way.
“Because I have both professional and personal experience in these matters, I realized that now is the time for me to step up and become your next public servant,” she said.
Yun has received early endorsements from U.S. Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland, State Senator Bob Hasegawa, State Senator Claudia Kaufman, State Representative Kristine Reeves, State Representative Tina Orwall, former State Representative Sherry Appleton, and former Burien Mayor and council member Jimmy Matta.
