Community fundraises for Make Music Federal Way

The world’s largest celebration of music is Wednesday, June 21.

The Federal Way Lions Club hosted its “Flapjacks at Jimmy Mac’s” fundraiser on April 22 to support Make Music Federal Way.

Make Music Day is a worldwide festival of making music to celebrate the longest day of the year. The event returns Wednesday, June 21.

The world’s largest annual music event celebrates and promotes the natural music maker in everyone, regardless of age or skill level. Last year, 104 U.S. cities organized 3,819 free Make Music events on June 21, including in Federal Way.

The Federal Way Lions Club is planning the Make Music Federal Way Festival to celebrate the first week of summer.

New this year, Federal Way City Councilmember Jack Walsh will sing a solo outside at the SubZero Nitrogen Ice Cream Shop at 10 a.m. on Make Music Day. Federal Way community member Roger Flygare will play tambourine at noon with troubadours at the stairsteps of the Performing Arts and Event Center in Federal Way.

Launched in France in 1982 as the Fête de la Musique, Make Music Day has become a global phenomenon with participants from more than 1,000 cities around the world.

A full schedule of events will be announced closer to June 21. For more information, visit www.makemusicday.org/federalway/
