Teen boy steals woman’s phone, wallet: At 4:47 a.m. on July 25 in the 28600 block of 25th Place South, a woman said she gave a ride to a 16-year-old boy from Safeway to the Villa Capri apartments. She said when they arrived at the apartments, the boy asked to borrow her phone, but he fled once she handed it over. The woman later discovered her wallet was missing from her purse, which had been inside her car. The woman told police she didn’t know the boy but believed he lived in a specific apartment unit. Police tried to contact the residents of that apartment but no one answered, and the woman was told to call police if she saw the boy again.

County vehicle tires stolen: At 8 a.m. on July 26 in the 34000 block of 16th Avenue South, an unknown suspect stole all four rims and tires off a King County vehicle. A King County Juvenile Court employee discovered the vehicle, which was parked in a parking lot facing 16th Avenue South. The building’s parking lot doesn’t have cameras and police weren’t able to get suspect information. In their investigation, officers discovered damage to the vehicle below the right rear passenger door where police believe a jack was placed to remove the tires. Police contacted used tire shops off Pacific Highway to ask that they contact police if they see people trying to sell similar tires.

Shoplifter caught with drug paraphernalia: At 4:45 p.m. on July 26 at 1819 S. Commons, a man was arrested for stealing $90 worth of merchandise from Dick’s Sporting Goods. After he was arrested, police found drug paraphernalia related to heroin on him. The man lied to police about his identity, giving his brother’s name. Police searched him in their system, using his brother’s name, and learned his brother had a Tacoma theft warrant. The suspect admitted the warrant was his and that he successfully used his brother’s name that time. Police noted in the report that “the ruse did not work this time,” and the suspect was booked into SCORE jail.

Worker creeps woman out: At 10:26 p.m. on July 26 in the 36800 block of 4th Avenue Southwest, a woman told police a man who had done yard work for her was “creeping her out.” She said she fired the man and told him not to contact her, but the man came by her home and contacted her at a nearby grocery store “out of the blue.” She said she doesn’t know if he’s stalking her but believes he might have thought there was “something more than a friendship but there was not.”

Teen booked for throwing glass at police: At 12:43 a.m. on July 27 in the 35700 block of 16th Avenue South, police booked a 15-year-old boy at Juvenile Screening for third-degree assault. A person called to report a fight, which police determined to be between children and an “out of control 15-year-old.” The boy was arrested after he threw a glass, striking an officer on the shoulder and face.

Drunk man falls asleep at intersection: At 1:31 a.m. on July 28 in the 33700 block of 27th Place Southwest, police arrested a man who fell asleep while driving a car at an intersection. Officers determined he was under the influence of alcohol.

Man threatens mom: At 6:48 a.m. on July 28 in the 1000 block of Southwest 308th Street, a man was arrested for threatening his mother with bodily harm. When officers contacted him, they discovered he was carrying a loaded 9 mm handgun. He was transported and booked into SCORE jail for harassment.

Drunk man assaults security at Wild Waves: At 4:03 p.m. on July 28 at 36201 Enchanted Parkway S., a man was arrested for assaulting a security officer while he was being escorted off of Wild Wave’s property. The man became intoxicated while at the beer garden and was reported as being disruptive. Police found the man, but he was uncooperative and “extremely intoxicated and belligerent.”

Children blow up helmet: At 8:52 p.m. on July 28 in the 2700 block of Southwest 351st Street, police were called to a report of a loud noise. Once at the scene, witnesses told officers they saw “very young children” putting fireworks inside a bicycle helmet, blowing it up, and running from the scene immediately after the explosion.

Man committed for overdose: At 7:55 a.m. on July 29 in the 33100 block of 38th Avenue Southwest, a man was involuntarily committed. He was unresponsive and “bubbling from the mouth with a blank stare.” Police said he had fresh vomit coming from his mouth that went along the sidewalk. While there was a moderate amount of alcohol coming from his breath and body, he was slurring his speech and couldn’t maintain balance. Police determined he wasn’t able to care for himself and had no one to care for him.

Halfway house window damaged: At 11:12 a.m. on July 29 in the 2500 block of South 288th Street, unknown suspects used marbles, BB pellets and a spark plug to break a large living room window at a halfway house.

Tools stolen: At 7:34 p.m. on July 30 in the 1400 block of South 324th Street, a construction worker reported an office building he had been working on for three days was burglarized. Unknown suspects gained entry into the building and stole tools, including drills, a grinder, a laser level and eight drill batteries. The worker said when he arrived for work that morning a lock box for the keys to the building was open and the keys were missing. The worker said neither he nor his workers accidentally left the lock box open.

Man does drugs, threatens to cut self: At 2:09 p.m. on July 31 in the 3000 block of Pacific Highway South, a man was involuntarily committed for suicidal thoughts after drinking vodka, using “dimes” worth of meth and shooting up heroin. He called 911 and told the dispatcher he had a knife and wanted to cut his throat. Police detained the man and found a large steak knife in his pants pocket. The man had just left a clean-and-sober house.

Homeless, one-armed man hits victim in face: At 2:39 p.m. on July 31 at the intersection of South 320th Street and Interstate 5, a man was hit with an unknown object on the right side of his face. The blow to his face cut his skin and muscle, requiring 32 total stitches. Police believe the suspect is a well-known homeless man with no right arm who frequently panhandles at the intersection.
