Following is a sample from the Federal Way police log:

• Tinted windows look cool, but can get you in trouble: At 2:21 p.m. Sept. 7 in the 35000 block of 16 Avenue South, a suspect was stopped for having tinted windows on their vehicle. According to the police report, the vehicle reeked of marijuana, and the suspect was driving without a license. The suspect was also found to be in possession of marijuana and a pipe.

• Don’t pass out in your car: At 12:39 p.m. Sept. 8 in the 1800 block of S. 316th Street, officers were dispatched to check on a suspect. Upon arrival, they found the suspect inside a running vehicle, slumped over. They awoke the suspect and ordered the suspect out of the vehicle. A K-9 unit was requested, and the dog alerted officers to the possibility of narcotics being present in the vehicle. The vehicle was sealed and towed to impound.

• Prank calls: At 9:14 p.m. Sept. 7 in the 32000 block of 11th Place South, the reporting party called and complained of receiving multiple calls from an unknown number. The victim believed the calls were prank calls. The reporting party asked the police officer to call the number back, which the officer did. The person who answered said he/she knew nothing about calling the reporting party’s number.

• Fingerhut?: At 11:14 a.m. Aug. 24 in the 32000 block of 19th Place South, the reporting party called about receiving a bill from Fingerhut for $704.61. The reporting party claimed to have never opened an account with Fingerhut. The caller contacted Fingerhut customer service, who directed the reporting party to a form to fill out indicating the account had been opened fraudulently.

• Storage unit theft: At 2:03 p.m. Sept. 5 in the 34000 block of 16th Avenue South, the victim indicated their storage unit had been broken into. The victim reported that approximately $3,000 worth of belongings had been stolen.

• I only smoke Newports: At 12:43 a.m. Sept. 6 in the 32000 block of 1st Avenue South, a Samoan man entered a store, pushed the attendant, and took a pack of Newport cigarettes without paying, according to the police report.

• Attempted retail theft: At 3:54 p.m. Sept. 6 in the 1700 block of S. Commons, it was reported that two Samoan women attempted to steal a tool set from Sears valued at $1,299.99. It was believed the duo had stolen a smaller tool set earlier the same day, according to the police report. In their second attempt, the two were spooked by the presence of police and loss prevention officers and ditched the tool set before leaving.
