Residential burglary: At some point between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. the following day, a car was reportedly broken into while it was inside the reporting party’s garage near the 3900 block of S. 326th Place.
Boy found at gas station: Officers responded at 12:30 p.m. to a report of a three-year-old boy unattended in a gas station located in the 28700 block of Military Road S. At first they did not locate the child, but later learned that a school bus driver had found the boy and transported him to the school bus yard. Officers transported the child to the police station where the mother later picked him up, stating that she works nights and he must have gotten out of the house while she was asleep.
May 29
There were zero vehicle thefts reported, and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.
Machete assault: At 3:20 a.m. near the 2600 block of S. 300th St., officers responded to an assault with a machete. They located the victim who was taken to the hospital via ambulance and who identified the suspect. Officers were at first unable to locate the suspect, even using a K9, but ultimately located him several neighborhoods away and took him into custody.
Overdose and hit-and-run: Officers responded to reports of a collision at 2:45 a.m. near the 700 block of SW 320th St., only to find a male laying on the sidewalk in the midst of an overdose. Narcan was applied and officers received information that the vehicle was listed with Washington State Patrol as a suspect for a hit-and-run as well. Officers arrested the driver for DUI and the hit-and-run.
Credit card skimmer: Officers discovered a credit card skimmer on a pay terminal at 12:27 p.m. at a business located in the 34500 block of 16th Avenue S. The terminal was not located for 57 minutes, and the total loss is unknown.
May 30
There was one vehicle theft reported, and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.
Inappropriate student/teacher relationship: Police were informed that there was an inappropriate relationship between a teacher and a student at a school located in the 35900 block of 16th Avenue S. The teacher turned in their building key and work laptop, had their online school resource privileges revoked, and was placed on administrative leave until the investigation is complete.
Altercation on trail: Officers were dispatched around midnight to the BPA Trail near the 35600 block of 14th Avenue SW. An individual shared that he had gotten into an argument with an unknown man in a blue ATV on the trail. Threatening language was used in the incident.
May 31
There were zero vehicle thefts reported, and one vehicle was recovered on this day.
Dog assaults dog: A dog entered a neighbor’s house around 1:45 p.m. near the 1100 block of SW 339th Street and attacked a smaller dog inside.
Possession arrest: During a drug-related investigation at 6:10 p.m. near the 31800 block of Pacific Highway S., officers arrested a female. The female already had a warrant and also tried to hide drugs under the police vehicle during the investigation.
June 1
There were zero vehicle thefts reported, and one vehicle was recovered on this day.
Found firearm: At 9:38 a.m., housekeeping at a business located in the 31600 block of Pacific Highway S. found a handgun in the room after occupants checked out from their stay. The firearm registration was clear, but no contact information was available to locate the gun’s owner.
Harassment arrest: Officers were called to a residence shortly after an anti-harassment order had been served around 8:30 p.m. in the 3300 block of 22nd Place S. After a brief stand-off, officers arrested the suspect for violating the order and took a child on the scene into protective custody.
June 2
There were zero vehicle thefts reported, and zero vehicles was recovered on this day.
Fire at Decatur High School: Witnesses report seeing several small explosions and pops coming out of two electrical boxes around 7:24 a.m. at Decatur High School. A school resource officer also observed smoke coming from the boxes. The fire department was called and they arrived with Federal Way Public Schools electricians to work on the issue. School was canceled the rest of the day. There is no evidence of foul play.
Rental fraud: A homeowner in Federal Way notified officers that his home had been listed for rent on Zillow. The rental listing included his address, but photographs of a different home and only a phone number for contact that was since inactive. These actions give officers reasonable suspicion of an act of criminal impersonation in the first degree.
June 3
There was one vehicle theft reported, and two vehicles were recovered on this day.
Pursuit assist: Federal Way police assisted Port of Seattle officers in a pursuit of a stolen vehicle around 12:48 a.m. in a parking lot on the 31600 block of Pacific Highway S. Occupants were detained by Port Police and the vehicle was cleared.
Youth weapons violation: Police responded around 8 a.m. to a school located in the 3600 block of S. 344th Street to a report of a juvenile in possession of a large knife and BB gun. Officers took possession of the bag, which had previously been searched at the school, and the juvenile was retrieved by their guardian.
