One adult male, possibly in his 40s, was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after suffering “critical injuries” in a bicycle/vehicle accident in the 28000 block of Military Road South on Friday morning.

Federal Way Police Department (FWPD) spokeswoman Cathy Schrock indicated that the driver of the vehicle in the accident, a 31-year-old male, was in custody at FWPD and “being evaluated for other contributing factors such as drugs and/or alcohol.”

Schrock and FWPD indicate that witnesses reported seeing a “recklessly driven vehicle (strike) the bicyclist on S Military Road.” The collision occurred at 10:50 a.m.

FWPD’s Major Investigation Team was on scene, and FWPD indicated that Military Road blocks 284-287 would be closed, and that the road closure could be expected to last until 4 p.m. Re-routing of traffic is already taking place.
