At 1:49 p.m. Sept. 6 in the 34000 block of 9th Avenue South, Child Protective Services requested a protective custody order.

Following is a sample from the Federal Way police log:

• Child endangerment: At 1:49 p.m. Sept. 6 in the 34000 block of 9th Avenue South, Child Protective Services requested a protective custody order. CPS indicated the order was needed after an infant tested positive for methamphetamine. CPS indicated the mother was contacted and told of the situation. CPS took the child into custody without incident, and the infant was transported to the Pediatric Interim Care Center.

• You’ll shoot your eye out!: At 10:18 a.m. Sept. 9 in the 32000 block of 7th Avenue SW, a homeowner contacted police to let them know a back window in the house had been shot with a BB/pellet gun. The window showed two to three small holes in it. According to the police report, it is unknown if the victim was targeted, or if it was an accident.

• You try to be a nice guy: At 2:16 p.m. Sept. 9 in the 31000 block of 1st Avenue South, a man called to report he had been assaulted by a female friend. He was giving her a ride when she became agitated and attacked him. The man suffered scratches to his face. The man chose not to press charges, but wanted the attack documented.

• Burglary: At 4 p.m. Sept. 9 in the 4600 block of SW 328th Place, the victim reported a burglary. The victim reported that a Gibson Les Paul guitar valued at $3,000, along with $500 in cash, was taken.

• Fathers and sons: At 6:58 p.m. Sept. 9 in the 31000 block of 13th Avenue South, police responded to a call of a verbal dispute. Upon arrival, they encountered two men, a father and his adult son. The two had come across each other incidentally, and had gotten into an argument. The adult son said his father has a history of verbally abusing him and is sick of it. The son hoped the police would be able to resolve the issue for them.

• Possible gunshots heard: At 1:34 p.m. Sept. 8 in the 28000 block of Military Road South, the reporting party called about possibly hearing gunshots from an apartment unit. The caller saw someone leave the unit shortly after the sounds, the report said. While waiting for police to arrive, the unit’s occupant exited, and had a small laceration on his arm. The unit’s occupant said the injury happened at work, and refused treatment.

• Employee gone rogue?: At 3:17 p.m. Sept. 7 in the 2400 block of SW 336th Street, a business owner called to report the theft of a safe deposit dropoff. The business owner said one of his employees had failed to show up for to work that morning, and that all attempts to contact the employee had been unsuccessful.

• Shady landlord: At 1:57 p.m. Sept. 7 in the 31000 block of 1st Avenue South, the reporting party contacted police regarding $542 paid as a deposit and application fee on a rental property. The reporting party said the payment was made three weeks prior, and had yet to move into the property. The reporting party said they had attempted contacting the suspected landlord numerous times over the three weeks, and was able to only talk with the suspect once. When speaking to the suspect, the reporting party was told there had been a “problem” with the paperwork. The reporting party had told the suspect that he/she just wanted the money back, but has not heard from the suspect since.
