Three suspects were arrested after a police pursuit, prompted by a stolen vehicle in Federal Way, ended in South Seattle on Monday night.

At approximately 10 p.m., an automatic license plate recognition system alerted a Federal Way police officer of a stolen vehicle. The driver was heading eastbound on South 320th Street near The Commons mall, said police spokeswoman Cathy Schrock.

Federal Way police initiated a pursuit of the stolen vehicle when the driver sped away from the area. However, police terminated the pursuit when they lost the vehicle driving towards Peasley Canyon Park and Ride.

Auburn police pursued the vehicle northbound on West Valley Highway, until the driver exited onto northbound Interstate 5 from westbound Highway 18.

A K-9 officer then followed the vehicle at normal speeds until traffic lightened and he activated his emergency lights near the South 272nd exit, Schrock said.

The driver of the stolen vehicle fled and attempted to elude police again. Washington State Patrol pursued the vehicle northbound on I-5 and performed a successful PIT maneuver south of Boeing Field.

The trooper arrested the driver, who has multiple active warrants, including eluding police and unlawful imprisonment charges. Two passengers were also booked on outstanding warrants.
