Reach Out of Federal Way, a homeless advocacy organization, is hosting a breakfast fundraiser to aid the planned opening of a winter shelter for homeless women in South King County.

The fundraiser will recognize Bob Wroblewski, Megan Johnson and Sheila Sebron, three local heroes, with King County Councilman Pete von Reichbauer moderating. Event runs 6:45 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, at Steel Lake Presbyterian Curch, 1829 S. 308th St.

For the past three winters, Reach Out has provided overnight shelter and meals for up to 25 men a night during the coldest winter months. Churches provide hot dinners each evening, a breakfast for morning, and a sack lunch for the men when they leave the shelter each day. There is currently only one shelter South King County for homeless women. It houses nine women at a time for up to 90 days.
