1 person injured in vehicle crash

Road was closed for several hours as crews clean up vehicle’s fluid spill.

One person was injured in a vehicle collision near 16th Avenue South in Federal Way on Monday morning.

South King Fire and Rescue crews responded to the collision in the 34500 block of 16th Avenue South around 7:22 a.m. on Dec. 12. The department tweeted that one person was trapped with critical injuries.

Firefighters were able to extricate and treat the trapped person, who was then transported to the hospital by King County Medic One.

Cmdr. Kurt Schwan of Federal Way Police said the collision resulted in minor injuries, however the involved U-Haul van was significantly damaged. The vehicle’s fluid spilled onto the roadway, resulting in extended road closures as crews worked to clean up the spill.
