1 man injured in Sunday morning shooting

Altercation leads to shots fired on Feb. 20, police say.

One man was seriously injured in a shooting early Sunday morning.

At about 2:43 a.m. Feb. 20, Federal Way officers responded to reports of a shooting at the AM/PM gas station at 27202 Pacific Highway S., according to Cmdr. Kurt Schwan.

A 57-year-old man involved in the shooting called 911 and said he was wounded. The man also told police the suspect was still on scene, Schwan said.

Officers initially detained a 33-year-old man, the other person involved in the shooting, and he cooperated with police.

Early information indicates the men were engaged in an altercation resulting in shots fired, Schwan said. Two handguns were recovered from the scene, one from each of the men.

The 57-year-old man was transported to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition, Schwan said.

Detectives are investigating. The men are not associated with the business and there were no other reported injuries.
