Wild Waves Theme Park will host Heroes Weekend on Sept. 10 and 11. This marks the last weekend of summer operations for Wild Waves, located on Enchanted Parkway South off I-5. First responders, law enforcement, fire personnel and military (active and retired) will receive free admission this weekend. Family members accompanying these heroes will receive 50 percent off admission.

This year’s Sand Sculpting Tournament of Champions features an event called Quicksand, in which two sculptors go head-to-head on a 10-minute impromptu challenge, with the winner determined by the audience. Starting Sept. 7, the Federal Way Farmers Market will be open 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays at 31600 20th Ave. S. (near the transit center). The market will continue to operate from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays at the same location through the end of October.
