Multicultural Group to meet Feb. 8

The Multicultural Book Group will be meeting at 7 p.m. Feb. 8 at the 320th Street Federal Way library to discuss “Wild Swans: Three Daughters of China” by Jung Chang.

The author tells the true story of her grandmother, mother and herself living in 20th century China. Her grandmother was married off as a concubine to a warlord. This unfortunate connection causes the family future sufferings again and again. Her mother was an idealistic Communist, raising a large family in very difficult times. Her father, also an idealist, suffered greatly to holding to the Communist ideals in spite of the corruption of the Chinese government. The author worked in several industries, one as different as the next. This is a story of courage, resilience and a will to survive. The program is free.
