MLK Jr. Event begins at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 15, at the Federal Way Performing Arts and Event Center, 31510 Pete von Reichbauer Way S. The event will feature performances and speeches from prominent community leaders.

Scouting for Trees: Register now to have your Christmas trees picked up between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Jan. 3. Dropoff is also available on Jan. 6 and Jan. 7 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. at Celebration Park. Bring your Christmas tree and any broken or unusable holiday lights to the local Boy Scouts. They will make sure the trees are composted and the lights are recycled so your holiday celebrations don’t add to the landfill. Celebration Park is located at 1095 S. 324th St., Federal Way.

Baby and Young Toddler Story Time: Every Thursday from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the library located at 34200 1st Way South, Federal Way.

Dance Dance Resolutions Open House: Join Arthur Murray Dance Studio for an open house from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Jan. 12. Get ready to groove into the new year and get a jump start on your dance goals. Located at 32724 Pacific Highway South, Federal Way.

Ukulele jam: Join the group at Cafe Noir in Federal Way as they learn and play together from 11:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. every Sunday. No matter your skill level, anyone who wants to can pick a song to lead, or just follow along. All levels of players are welcome. Even if you are new to ukulele, or have been playing for years, the sessions are just about learning and having fun together. Glowforge Laser Printer Basics: Learn how to use the Glowforge Laser Printer from 4 to 5 p.m. Jan. 17. In this class, get the basics of using the Glowforge app to cut, score and engrave your designs. Kids’ DIY-U Workshop – My First DIY Toolbox: This Kids Toolbox Workshop will have your little helper eager to tag along on your next home improvement project on Jan. 20. Bring your mini-DIYer into Lowe’s at one of the select time slots. Workshops hosted by one our Red Vest experts are held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., in-store only. If you are unable to attend during your selected timeslot, your kit may be given away to walk-ins starting at 1 p.m. the day of the workshop.
