The mall: A Halloween festival with trick-or-treating will run 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31, at The Commons Mall at South 320th Street and Pacific Highway South.
FrightFest: Wild Waves’ annual FrightFest has begun. The Halloween celebration runs 5 to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays in October (5 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 24 and 31). The theme park will offer a haunted house, weekly Reunion of Souls: Rock the Dead dances, a special trick-or-treat town for youngsters, a Bob the Builder meet and greet and over 20 rides and attractions. Funfest: The Federal Way Community Center will hold a Tricks N’ Treats Funfest from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 30. The event will include s’mores, games, a costume contest, inflatable slide, prizes, candy and much more. Kids ages 2 to 12 are welcome to participate. Freaky 5K Fun Run: The city’s first Freaky 5K Fun Run takes place at 9 a.m. Oct. 30 at the Federal Way Community Center, 876 S. 333rd St. Participants in the 3.1-mile race are encouraged to wear a costume during the run. The price to participate is $30 ($5 for kids ages 10 and under). Participants, with the exception of children, will receive a shirt. Money generated through the event will be available in the form of a scholarship to low-income families who wish to participate in recreation and other community center programs.
