The Federal Way City Council proclaimed May 3 and 4 as Barbershop Harmony Days in Federal Way.
This is in recognition of the 75th anniversary of the Barbershop Harmony Society and the role Federal Way Harmony Kings, Jet Cities Sweet Adeline Chorus, Mid Day Melody Men and their associated quartets play in the city by singing at local civic functions, entertaining all ages throughout the community.
The Western Washington Barbershop Chorus and Quartet Contest will be held May 3-4 at Our Savior’s Baptist Church, 701 S. 320th St. Quartet contest begins at 7 p.m. Friday, the chorus contest starts at 10 a.m. Saturday, a high school a cappella contest starts at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, and the Show of Champions will follow at 7 p.m.
The public is welcome to attend. Performers include the Federal Way Harmony Kings along with choral programs from Decatur and Todd Beamer high schools. Tickets are $10 and $15 and available at the door. Contact (425) 372-6231.
