Taste of Federal Way: From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 23, nine local restaurants compete for the Taste of Federal Way at the Federal Way Farmers Market. Tickets cost $20 and include a feast of dishes from at least eight restaurants, plus a drink and dessert. The event also features live music and performances. One-third of each ticket sale goes to a nonprofit, one-third to the restaurant and the last piece to the Federal Way Farmers Market. Federal Way’s Got Talent winner Aimee Vanessa Coronado Bravo will also grace the stage at Taste of Federal Way. This year’s restaurants include Sub Zero Nitrogen Ice Cream, East India Grill, Jimmy Mac’s Roadhouse of Federal Way, Puerto Vallarta Mexican Restaurant of Twin Lakes, Mama Stortini’s, K.C. Deez BBQ, Black Bear Diner of Federal Way and Poverty Bay Cafe by FUSION.

Federal Way Farmers Market: Every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through October at The Commons mall.

Branch Out at the Pacific Bonsai Museum. Hosted at the former Weyerhaeuser headquarters on Oct. 1 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Beautiful bonsai, live entertainment, tempting treats and libations, and a raise the paddle — all in support of the Pacific Bonsai Museum. Purchase tickets and RSVP by Sept. 19.

Coffee with a Cop: Oct. 4 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Starbucks located on 164 Southwest Campus Drive. No agenda or speeches, just an opportunity to ask questions and build relationships with the officers who serve our community.

Mayor’s Day of Concern, Food Drive: Oct. 7 at 10 a.m. Every year, the city works with the Multi-Service Center’s Federal Way Food Bank to collect food for those who need it in the community. To learn more, call 253-838-6810 or visit www.mschelps.org

Candidate forum: Ahead of the general election, the Federal Way Mirror invites readers to attend a candidates forum from 6-8 p.m. Oct. 11 at the Federal Way High School theater. The forum will feature candidates for Federal Way School Board and candidates for Federal Way City Council. The forum will also be live-streamed on the Mirror’s Facebook page.
