Best of Federal Way 2025: Dear Federal Way community, there has been a change in this year’s Best of Federal Way celebration. The event that was initially scheduled at the community center has been canceled. Instead, we are hosting an open house at the Federal Way Mirror’s office from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, where we will celebrate winners of our annual contest. Drop in anytime to meet the team. There will be raffle prizes and refreshments, and we will hand out awards to winning businesses. The official winners list will be published in the March 14 edition of the newspaper. The Mirror is located at 909 S. 336th St., Suite 105, Federal Way, WA 98003 (the Omni building at the corner of S. 336th St. and 9th Ave. S.). Climate Conversation: A South Seattle College student is hosting an event about how small actions can have an impact at 3 p.m. March 7 at the Federal Way Library in conference room 2. The Federal Way Library is located at 34200 1st Way S. Refreshments will be available and the event is kid and teen friendly.
Phenomenal She Fundraiser: Celebrate Women’s Day in a Phenomenally Pink Way starting at 12 p.m. March 8. This event will feature a mimosa social hour, women’s history trivia, a silent and live auction, hand massages and more and is a fundraiser for Federal Way-based organization Phenomenal She. This brunch will take place at Ebony and Ivory Cafe at 1145 Broadway Plaza in Tacoma.
Drive-Thru Small Appliances and Electronics Recycling and Document Shredding: This free event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 8 at the South King County Tool Library, 1700 S. 340th St. Residents can drop off up to five SMALL appliances for free recycling (examples include microwaves, blenders, toasters, misc. kitchen appliances). Free recycling of small to medium-sized electronics (examples include computers, TVs, gaming equipment, cables).
Meet the Mayors Event: Mayor Jim Ferrell will join Des Moines Mayor Traci Buxton at a special event at 10:15 a.m. March 8 at Christ Lutheran Church, 2501 S.W. 320th St. in Federal Way. Refreshments will be provided.
Federal Way Symphony Presents “Lights … Camera … Music!”: In a return to the cinematic experience of 100 years ago, the Federal Way Symphony will present “Lights … Camera … Music!” at 4:30 p.m. March 9 at the Federal Way Performing Arts and Event Center. Federal Way Symphony musicians will accompany a collection of silent movies from the 1920s in this one-of-a kind concert located at 31510 Pete von Reichbauer Way South.
Health Through Housing Federal Way Community Meeting: This community meeting will be an opportunity to learn about Health Through Housing’s (HTH) Federal Way location, opening later this year. Representatives from Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle, the City of Federal Way, and King County will share updates on the building and answer questions from community members from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. March 12 in Federal Way City Hall on the second floor in Council Chambers located at 33325 8th Ave. S.
STEAM Exploration Night: Explore careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. March 13 at Federal Way High School located at 30611 16th Ave. S. in Federal Way in this district-wide event.
St Patrick’s Day Flag Raising: The Irish flag will fly at noon on March 17 at City Hall, located at 33325 8th Ave. S. in Federal Way. Performances by bagpipers and Rich Finn of the Vox Hiberniae Voice of the Irish will add to the festivities and two local community members will be honored for their contributions.
Mending Fair: Enjoy free clothes mending with the Refugee Artisan Initiative from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. March 16 at the Federal Way Library located at 34200 1st Way S. Registration is requested but walk ins will be available as well.

Cleared for Takeoff – Breaking Barriers for Youth in Aviation: Teen author and pilot Ishitha Arekapudi will discuss her new book and share strategies for navigating flight training, accessing scholarships and building mentorship connections in aviation and aerospace careers from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. March 22 at the Federal Way Library, located at 34200 1st Way S. in Federal Way.
March of Diapers Drive: From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 22 at Fred Meyer, located at 33702 21st Ave. SW in Federal Way.
Coffee and Conversation with City Council School Board: On March 22 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., join the Federal Way City Council and the Federal Way School Board. Join the Federal Way City Council and Federal Way Public Schools (FWPS) School Board on Saturday, March 22, for Coffee and Conversation. The event will be held at Ebony & Ivory Coffee from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. All members of the public are welcome to come and share a cup of coffee and conversation in this open house-style meeting. Doors open at 10 a.m. for you to bring your questions, concerns, and thoughts for the Council and School Board to hear. We will be collecting donations of personal hygiene items to restock the closet items at FWPS schools 33930 Weyerhaeuser Way S., Federal Way.
