Centerstage Theatre production of ‘Something Rotten!’: Through June 15, catch a performance of “Something Rotten!” by the Centerstage Theatre production company at the Knutzen Family Theatre, located at 3200 SW Dash Point Road. The musical is set in 1595 where two struggling playwright brothers, Nick and Nigel Bottom, try to outshine Shakespeare by creating the world’s first musical. Free handgun safe distribution: Gun safes will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis beginning at 9 a.m. June 7 at City Hall, 33325 8th Ave. S., by the Federal Way Police Department. A total of 500 Vaultek brand VE10 ($168 MSRP) and VE20 ($199 MSRP) models will be distributed. Both safes can store one handgun and unlock via electronic keypad. Each family will be eligible to receive one handgun safe, while supplies last. The gun safes are designed to help firearm owners securely store their weapons and reduce the risk of accidents, theft, and unauthorized access — particularly by children or other vulnerable individuals.

MSC Spring Into Action Fundraiser: 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. June 7 at the Muckleshoot Casino Resort Event Center, 2402 Auburn Way S. in Auburn. There will be dinner, drinks, a silent and live auction, raffles, games, music, and more. Visit mschelps.org/getinvolved/sia.

Hanwoori Garden: Join the Federal Way Korean American Association and the City of Federal Way to celebrate the grand opening ceremony of the Hanwoori Garden at 10:30 a.m. June 10. The garden is located at 550 SW Campus Dr. in Federal Way. Reception begins at 10:30 a.m. followed by the program commencement at 11 a.m.

You’ll be able to ask the newspaper staff about their work or talk about issues affecting the region, such as homelessness, addiction and development, all while supporting a local business and the work of nonprofit FUSION to serve families in need. Poverty Bay Café is located at 1108 S. 322nd Place in Federal Way, north of Celebration Park.

Spring Showcase of Skating Stars: CARNIVAL!: El Centro Skate Rink presents a showcase of artistic competitive roller skating ahead of an upcoming regional competition. The showcase will take place from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. June 10 at the skate rink located at 34222 Pacific Hwy. S. in Federal Way. The event will feature over 20 skaters from three local clubs who will perform in a structured seven-act program, incorporating large group numbers and solo performances that represent a variety of skill levels and ages.

Summer Reading Launch Party: Celebrate summer reading with the King County Library System with the launch party of their summer reading program: Curious Creatures. Enjoy food and outdoor activities from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. June 11 at Steel Lake Park, 2410 S. 312th St. in Federal Way.

Juneteenth,: A Freedom Celebration: Celebrate Juneteenth from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. June 14 at the Federal Way Library, 34200 1st Way South. Enjoy performances, food, vendors, art, free professional headshots and basketball skills and drills at this event hosted by Phenomenal She and Game of Life Mentoring.

Flag Day: Celebrate Flag Day in an event hosted by the Soroptimists beginning at 10 a.m. June 14 at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center, located at 650 SW Campus Dr. in Federal Way. Enjoy free food, music and more.

‘No kings’ demonstration and food drive: Federal Way community members plan to gather for the latest in a series of solidarity demonstrations, this time with the theme of “no kings.” The event will take place from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 14, at the intersection of Pacific Highway South and S. 320th St. The event doubles as a unofficial food drive for the Multi-Service Center.

City Council: 6:30 p.m. June 17 in the council chambers (upstairs and to the left) at City Hall, located at 33325 8th Ave. S.

Juneteenth Flag Raising: Raise the Juneteenth flag at noon June 18 at Federal Way City Hall, located at 33325 8th Ave. S.

Evergreen City Ballet’s Season Finale Performance: Experience Evergreen City Ballet at 6 p.m. June 20 at the Federal Way Performing Arts and Event Center, located at 31510 Pete von Reichbauer Way S. The event will feature talented students as they bring a vibrant selection of dance styles to the stage. SummerFest and plant clearance sale: Free admission, a beautiful garden, plant for sale, art and a food truck will all be waiting at the Rhododendron Species Botanical Garden event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 21. The garden is located at 2525 S. 336th St. in Federal Way.

Make With Pride: Celebrate LGBTQIA+ community in the Makerspace from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. June 22 at the Federal Way Library, located at 34200 1st Way S. Explore the Glowforge Laser Printer to cut then paint specially designed wooden buttons, 3D pronoun pins, and design a pride flag mug with sublimation printing and a heat press.

The Little Mermaid Jr: Enjoy a production of Disney’s “The Little Mermaid Jr.” by Friendship Theatre with performances for one weekend, running June 26 through June 29 at the Knutzen Family Theatre located at 3200 SW Dash Point Road in Federal Way.

Summer Movie at the Park – ‘The Wild Robot’: Federal Way’s free community movie night at Town Square Park. Bring blankets and lawn chairs, and don’t forget to invite friends and family. Free popcorn. Red, White and Blues Festival: Enjoy live music, food vendors, and family fun all day on July 4. The main stage lights up at 4 p.m. with diverse performers and fireworks at 10:15 p.m. all at Celebration Park located at 1095 S. 324th Street, Federal Way. Miles for Meso 5K: The Miles for Meso WA Memorial 5K Run/Walk will return for its eleventh year from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on July 4 at 876 333rd Street in Federal Way. Register by June 13th to guarantee shirt size.

Summer Sounds Concert Series: Federal Way’s Summer Sounds Concert Series is a free concert line-up from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. every Wednesday evening in July at Steel Lake Park that brings live music to the community.
