Sound Transit Coffee Town Hall: Join Pete von Reichbauer for a town hall discussion with Sound Transit CEO Dow Constantine from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. July 8 at KO-AM TV, located at 32008 32nd Ave. S. in Federal Way. This town hall provides an excellent opportunity for a dialogue between Sound Transit and local community regarding projects in South King County, with a particular focus on the upcoming Link Light Rail Federal Way Downtown Station. Hot off the Presses: The Federal Way Mirror invites you to join the paper from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. July 8 at Poverty Bay Café for informal conversation, coffee, beer, wine and appetizers. You’ll be able to ask the newspaper staff about their work or talk about issues affecting the region, such as homelessness, addiction and development, all while supporting a local business and the work of nonprofit FUSION to serve families in need. Poverty Bay Café is located at 1108 S. 322nd Place in Federal Way, north of Celebration Park.

Summer Sounds Concert Series: Federal Way’s Summer Sounds Concert Series is a free concert line-up from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. every Wednesday evening in July at Steel Lake Park that brings live music to the community. Steel Lake Park is located at 2410 S. 312th St. in Federal Way. July 9: Stacy Jones Band (Roots Rock/Blues/Americana). July 16: Radio 80 (80’s Pop Radio Hits). July 23: Chrome Molly (Rock Music). July 30: BroHamM (Motown/Funk/R&B).

Beachfest 2025: A skimboard competition returns July 12 with registrations from 8:30 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. for an event that runs 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Dash Point State Park, 5700 SW Dash Point Road in Federal Way, at the beach.

Recycle Right with Waste Management: Bring by your hard-to-recycle items between 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 12 to the South King Tool Library, 1700 S. 340th Place in Federal Way. Vendors will be collecting working small appliances, textiles and clothing, working tools and consumables. Waste Management will recycle textile waste, household batteries, styrofoam, paper for shredding.

Summer Chalk Art Festival: From 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. July 12, join in for a vibrant day of creativity and community presented by the Arts Foundation Federal Way at the Federal Way Performing Arts and Event Center located at 31510 Pete von Reichbauer Way S. This colorful celebration will feature a professional chalk artist bringing a large-scale mural to life while attendees of all ages are invited to add their own artistic touch in designated chalk art zones. The festival will also include live music, local food vendors, and fun activities for the whole family, including face painting and interactive art stations.

Rubber Duck Scavenger Hunt: We Love Our City is hosting the Rubber Duck Scavenger hunt from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. July 12 at the West Hylebos Wetlands Park, 411. S. 348th Street in Federal Way. Ages 2-14 can find and keep up to three ducks each, and after the trail is completed, can enter into a drawing to win a prize.

FUSION Summer Marketplace: Discover local artisans, snack on delicious treats, and shop for a good cause from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 12 when FUSION’s parking lot transforms into a summer marketplace filled with treasures crafted by local vendors at Poverty Bay Cafe and Bakery, 1108 S. 322nd Place in Federal Way. Grab a coffee, shop the summer market, and then head over to the FUSION Décor Boutique to shop a sidewalk sale. A portion of all vendor sales supports housing families experiencing homelessness.

Potion the Company Presents: Kaleidoscope: There are two opportunities on July 13 to enjoy a dance performance that will include a diversity of visuals, versatility, and a whole lot of emotions, one at 5 p.m. and one at 8 p.m. Both will take place at the Federal Way Performing Arts and Event Center, 31510 Pete von Reichbauer Way S.

City Council: 6:30 p.m. July 15 in the council chambers (upstairs and to the left) at City Hall, located at 33325 8th Ave. S.

Bike Safety Event: Get ready for family friendly fun of all things bikes put on by We Love Our City Federal Way from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. July 26 at the Family Life Center, 32275 32nd Ave. S. in Federal Way. The event will feature a bike rodeo safety course, a repair station, bike decorating station, recycle station and giveaways including bikes and helmets.

Kiwanis 69th Annual Salmon Bake: The Federal Way Kiwanis Salmon Bake raises funds to support youth and community programs in Federal Way. Purchase tickets at federalwaykiwanis.com or at the door to enjoy the event from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. July 25 at Steel Lake Park, located at 2410 S. 312th St. in Federal Way.

Brent Vernon: Federal Way Church of the Nazarene invites you to a free night for the whole family with singer-songwriter, ventriloquist, and author-illustrator Brent Vernon and his pal, Sam. It will be a night of stories, music, and fun for all ages. Event is 7 p.m. July 27, doors open at 5:30 p.m. All are invited to stay for cookies and lemonade following the concert. FUSION Gala: The annual FUSION Summer Arts Gala is scheduled for 5 p.m. Aug. 9 at Dumas Bay Centre. This year’s theme is “Waves of Change,” and the annual event raises thousands of dollars for local homeless families and children in need.
