Next City Council meeting: 6:30 p.m. Sept. 5 in the council chambers (upstairs and to the left) at City Hall (33325 8th Ave. S).

9/11 Memorial Event: Hosted by South King Fire, the event will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Station 64, located at 3700 South 320. The event will feature speaker Colonel Michael F. Keenan. South King Fire is proud to have the most complete 9/11 Memorial on the West Coast.

Hot off the Presses: The Federal Way Mirror invites you to join the paper from 1-2:30 p.m. Sept. 19 at Poverty Bay Café for informal conversation and coffee. You’ll be able to ask the newspaper staff about their work or talk about issues affecting the region, such as homelessness, addiction and development, all while supporting a local business and the work of nonprofit FUSION to serve families in need. Taste of Federal Way: Sept. 23 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. nine local restaurants compete for the Taste of Federal Way at the Federal Way Farmers Market. Tickets are available at the market on Saturdays 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on the day of the event. Each participating non profit will be selling tickets. Support local!

Walk to End Alzheimer’s: Registration begins at 10 a.m. and ceremony begins at 11 a.m. Located at Dune Peninsula Park Point Ruston, 5361 Yacht Club Road, Tacoma.

First School Board Meeting of the school year: Tuesday, Sept. 26, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Sherwood Forest Elementary School located at 34600 12th Avenue Southwest.

Federal Way Farmers Market: Every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. this summer at The Commons mall.
