FW Youth Symphony annual concert (June 3): The performance will be 4 p.m. at the PAEC. Tickets are $15 for adults or free for students.

Arts Explosion (June 3-4): The city hosts its inaugural “Arts Explosion” festival, celebrating photographers, painters, sculptures and all manner of creative souls at the Performing Arts and Event Center (PAEC). Event runs 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Learn more online at fwpaec.org/events/arts-explosion-at-the-paec.

Free live jazz (June 4): Jazz LIVE at Marine View Church (8469 Eastside Drive NE) is from 5 to 7 p.m. Admission is free for all ages for the church’s live jazz series this summer. Composer/pianist/keyboardist Lao Tizer, vocalist Elliott Yamin, bassist Osama Afifi and drummer Brad Boal will perform.

Juneteenth flag raising (June 16): The city of Federal Way will raise the Juneteenth flag at city hall at 9 a.m. (The Juneteenth holiday is celebrated on the 19th, and city hall will be closed that day.)

Coffee with The Mirror (June 21): Join us for coffee and conversation at Poverty Bay Café (1108 S. 322nd Place) from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Ask us questions about our process, pitch story ideas or just get to know your local paper.

Make Music celebration (June 21): Celebrate the longest day of the year with Make Music Federal Way, a chance to teach or learn to play music or just to jam out. Events will take place at Sub Zero at 10 a.m.; the PAEC at noon; Curves Fitness Center from 7 a.m. to noon; and the First Avenue South Library. All events are free. Farmers Market (Saturdays): Get flowers, fresh veggies, crafts and more at the Federal Way Farmers Market. The market runs 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Saturday through the end of October, behind The Commons mall along South 324th Street in Federal Way.
