The City of Federal Way is hosting a virtual Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration Monday, Jan. 18.

In a collaborative effort with the Federal Way Diversity Commission and Federal Way Public Schools, the pre-recorded event will take place at 11 a.m. on the City’s YouTube channel.

For this year’s virtual event, city officials teamed up with the institutions serving high school students, including TAF Academy, Federal Way Public Academy, and Truman along with Federal Way, Decatur, Thomas Jefferson and Todd Beamer high schools.

Each participant recorded their own video, which were then complied into the larger presentation. Videos include performances of spoken word, the Black National Anthem, educational presentations, dance, poetry readings and more.
