Check out Federal Way’s World Cup festival plans

Free event Nov. 14 at the Performing Arts and Event Center.

Free food, free swag and a variety of prizes will accompany the unveiling of the City of Federal Way’s soccer-themed festivities during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

From 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, Federal Way community members are invited to head to the Performing Arts and Event Center (PAEC) to get an exclusive first look at the city’s plans and see the unveiling of the event’s logo — in neon lights, no less.

Friday’s pre-party will share more details about the free, city-sponsored festival in June that will celebrate the community excitement around the international soccer competition.

The Kickin’ It Federal Way 2026 Festival will be a “soccer-focused community celebration to allow local residents to connect with the FIFA World Cup as it comes to our region,” according to a press release, and “will include World Cup watch parties along with other fun activities.”

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Friday. The unveiling event begins at 6 p.m. and will give residents, local businesses and community partners a first look at the festival’s logo, theme and goals.

City leaders and event organizers will share dates, details about the festival and what the community can expect.

In addition to free food and fun giveaways, the unveiling event will include free live music from local performers The Olson Bros Band.

Friday’s event is funded by the Arts Foundation Federal Way, and the June three-day festival will be made possible by a grant from the Port of Seattle.

Autumn Gressett is a Contract Administrator and Community Relations Liaison for the Parks Department at the City of Federal Way and is one of the core organizers of the events. For both the launch party and the festival itself, Gressett said the team has been guided by the frequent feedback from the community of Federal Way that they want more opportunities for fun, accessible, inclusive events to connect with each other.

“We hear that a lot from the community … they want things that they can be involved in that aren’t always a cost. It’s one thing that we’ve thought about a lot as we’ve gone through both this launch party and then planning for the festival coming up,” Gressett said.

Soccer fandom is not required to enjoy the fun. The festival will also feature three days of everything from carnival games, carnival rides, a food truck alley, beer garden and live bands.
