Will PACC serve Federal Way citizens in long run? | Letters

This letter is in regards to the proposed PACC project.

First, from what I understand there is already a performing arts center at the Knutzen Family Theatre. The city used taxpayer money for this. Is it not good enough?

Second, given the state financial budget cuts, the city will receive less. How does the city plan to make up for this shortfall?

There have been cuts to first responders and there are fewer police, which does not serve the city well.

What about the funding issues that are facing the schools in Federal Way? Will the new performing arts center teach our children better?

My position is that it is only going to serve the few when taking away money needed for the community as a whole.

This project will not enhance Federal Way’s image if the schools are subpar and there is not an excellent first responder system in place.

And even more important, are they going too incur more financial obligations the city can ill afford? I would surmise that this is not a problem for them, since it is not their debt. If you cannot pay cash, then pass.

Who will want to move into a community flirting with insolvency?

Our elected city officials need to think of what is good for all the residents. Catering to the few or trying too enhance their self-image will not serve Federal Way citizens in the long run.
