Where are the parents of these children? | Letter

After reading about the free lunches for these children in Federal Way, I wonder where are their parents?

Growing up in the ‘40s and ‘50s, my folks didn’t have much, and we, the five of us, ate a lot of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Our family couldn’t afford hot lunches, but mom and/or dad always made sure we had our peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I still enjoy my peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to this day, at age 75.

But, for some reason, with this administration and those who sit on the Federal Way City Council, as well as the mayor, we the taxpayers are now responsible for feeding these children, and where are the parents, and why are they not responsible for their offsprings? Being retired, we don’t have the extra money for taxes. Our so-called  “city government and federal government” don’t seem to have a problem taking our money away from us. And where are the parents of these children?

In the Redondo Beach area, I see mothers bringing children — I don’t know if all of them belong to one mom — for free lunches near the boat ramp. It appears these people don’t even live anywhere near where they are bringing these children, because they drive up in older cars and/or trucks.

Will these children really starve if there are no free breakfasts and lunches? I doubt it because the parents are too lazy to go to the food banks and/or wherever they can get free food and make breakfasts and lunches for their children. How much more can you take away from those of us who grew up during the end of the Great Depression but didn’t starve because our parents would take food from themselves so their children would be able to have something to eat?
