Welcome to the cathouse? | Federal Way letters

On March 30, The Mirror carried a front page story with the title “Code clarifies rules for city’s pet owners” by Jacinda Howard. The story goes on to tell about changes to animal control. It should really be called “dog” control. When you read the entire story, you find out that dogs are the bad guys.

Personally, I have no problem with dogs. But cats make this issue personal with me. I have a garden. It is small. But I like it. It is my garden and I want to be proud of it. Cats seem to like it, too. They are using it for their bathroom. Nothing grows in my garden.

The article had critical comments to make about dogs, but had no such comments about cats. In fact, the article did just the opposite. Before this rule change, a home could have only three cats. Now it can have up to five cats before a home is designated a “cat house.” Oops, I’m sorry. It is called a cattery.

Now all my neighbors can have up to five cats. My garden doesn’t stand a chance.
