Voting for ‘Team 30’ | Letter

When I first heard the expression, “Team 30,” I envisioned something like the 12th Man or a team of 30-year-olds.

When I first heard the expression, “Team 30,” I envisioned something like the 12th Man or a team of 30-year-olds. I found out it referred to Mark Miloscia, Linda Kochmar and Jack Dovey.

Then it made sense. These three people would make an awesome team working for the people of the 30th Legislative District. They have a can-do spirit of cooperation that will make things happen. They want to build things in the 30th District that will bring jobs.

They want their citizens to have a world class education and the transportation problems fixed. Things will not come easy, but they are ready to roll up their sleeves. To their advantage, each has a wide range of public service experience working for them — a combined forty years of public service. That will be a tremendous advantage to the people of the 30th District.

Linda Kochmar and Jack Dovey have not only served on the Federal Way City Council, they have served as mayors of Federal Way. Those who experienced their leadership, have the highest respect for their performance.

Look at Mark Miloscia’s 14 years as our state representative. It included being chair of the Housing Committee and chair of the Audit Review and Government Oversight Committee. He courageously led efforts to improve government efficiency and accountability.

It has caused Former State Auditor Brian Sonntag to say, “Mark Miloscia has been a fighter for government transparency and accountability his entire career while standing up for those less fortunate,” “As a Democrat, I trust Mark to fight for the principles he and I share.”

People who know them recognize their ability to listen compassionately, to reason with common sense and to solve problems with experience, integrity and commitment to service. Their years of public service have brought them connections with people not only in the community, but regionally, nationally and internationally.

Because of that, they have acquired priceless connections that will benefit the citizens they serve. And, because of that, the Seattle Times has given all three their endorsement. How does it get any better than that?

To say that Mark Miloscia, Linda Kochmar and Jack Dovey are Team 30 does not do them justice. I say we call them the Dream Team.
