After reading about Federal Way schools that recycle food, I wonder why there is food to recycle.

Do the students get served too much food? Do the cooks prepare too much food? Students that prefer candy and pop can’t be forced to eat vegetables. People in Somalia would be happy to feast on a head of raw cabbage. Toss a head of cabbage to starving people and they will fight over it.

When I was a child growing up in a household with nine people, there was never any food to recycle. The dog ate the bones, fat and gristle.

When a person is hungry, a bowl of hot corn meal mush is a real treat!
