School levies benefit all of Federal Way | Letters

We as a community share a vested interest in seeing they receive it; after all, these students are the adults of tomorrow we will depend upon to run the world and pay the bills.

Washington state recently received an “F” grade from Education Week for our low level of education spending. Federal Way Public Schools are particularly poorly funded due to an antiquated and unfair formula used by the state to distribute education dollars.

In spite of the recent Supreme Court ruling stating that Washington is not adequately funding education, it appears likely that it will be slashed yet again during the current legislative session.

FWPS has managed creatively and responsibly on a shoestring budget for many years, but that shoestring has become terribly frayed at the same time that schools are addressing new challenges presented by our expanding population.

Our children deserve suitable preparation for their future — a decent education is an integral part of that.

We as a community share a vested interest in seeing they receive it; after all, these students are the adults of tomorrow we will depend upon to run the world and pay the bills.

Please vote “yes” on the upcoming FWPS education levies. Your vote will benefit us all.
