Remembering Milt Audett | Federal Way letters

Our Kiwanis Club members appreciate the nice article you ran June 5 in The Mirror about Walt Schrader. We have not yet heard from Walt’s family as to when and where his memorial service will be. If you learn that information before we do, I would appreciate it if you would pass it on to our club, so we can notify our members.

As you may know, another longtime member of our Kiwanis Club, Milt Audett, died on Friday, June 4. Although Milt was not as well known in Federal Way as Walt, his lifetime accomplishments are at least equally noteworthy. He served as a waist gunner in the European theater during World War II and was shot down twice. The story of how he survived those two incidents would make a thrilling movie.

Over the years, he probably did more for our Kiwanis Club than any past or present member, serving at various times as president, secretary, concession stand stocker, concession stand scheduler and principal operator of the concession stand. Milt’s memorial service will be on Wednesday, June 16,

at 11 a.m. at Yahn and Son Funeral Home in Auburn. A second service will be that day at 2:30 p.m. at Mt. Tahoma National Cemetery.
