No more cameras in Federal Way | Letters

The May 25 issue of The Mirror had a story about how rightfully indignant the mayor and city council were over the fact that citizens of Federal Way were being taxed for a light rail system that will never happen.

This is money that is leaving Federal Way. I wonder if they would be equally as indignant if the money were to stay in Federal Way.

Let me give you an example. The same issue of The Mirror had another story about red light cameras in the city. There are a total of six locations with cameras. Three traffic intersections and three schools have speed cameras. The same story says that for the first 11 months of 2010, the city fathers sucked $1.48 million out of the pockets of its citizens. What a cash cow! That is more than a quarter million dollars per location per year.

How many intersections are there in Federal Way? Cameras at each intersection could bring in enough money to even help President Obama with his national debt problems.

If no one else has the courage to say it, I will. Enough is enough. No more cameras.
