Miloscia is not the right choice for Federal Way | Letter of the Week

As a breast cancer survivor and someone who has been through the painful process of receiving chemotherapy cancer drugs, I watched with heightened interest to the CBS 60 Minutes, Oct. 5 segment on the high cost of cancer drugs and how a family in crisis and retirees can end up in severe financial difficulty paying exorbitant prices for essential life saving treatment.

As 60 Minutes pointed out, the drug costs have nothing to do with research and development; the pharmaceutical companies charge whatever they want.

The show specifically highlighted Novartis Pharmaceutical and PhRMA, the drug industry’s lobbying association.

Why is this so important to me and how does this affect us in Federal Way?

Let me tell you. Mark Miloscia, Republican, is running for state Senate in the 30th District.

He has taken over $9,000 in donations from the drug industry and companies Novartis Pharmaceuticals, Takeda Pharmaceuticals, Teva Pharmaceuticals, McKesson, Johnson & Johnson, Eli Lilly, Express Scripts and Caremark RX.

He has received almost $2,000 from PhRMA, the drug companies’ lobbyist in Washington, DC.

Who do you think will be on the side of the drug companies?

Who will do their bidding?

Miloscia is not for the working class and retirees.

Shari Song is on the side of Federal Way families.

Vote Shari Song for state Senate in the 30th District.

She cares about you not the out-of-state special interest groups.
