Just wanted to let you know how much I appreciated the irony of the letter “Children and basic math,” published in the June 10 edition, which left me wondering whether grammar was included in the class of 1983’s “basic” curriculum.

I’m sure there are many “other parents out there that believe the same way (she does)…about the basic needs our children need to know and what is actually being expected of them.”

However, I hope there are many more who see the value in an education which includes “complicated, and truly hard to understand” lessons, both in and out of the classroom.
