Judgment day for Federal Way judges | Letter to the editor, May 8

Elected Federal Way Municipal Court Judge Michael Morgan yelled at court employees after taking office in 2006 and exhibited “impatient, undignified and discourteous behavior” toward court and other city employees, according to the Commission on Judicial Conduct.

He has been perceived as “disparaging, threatening or otherwise unbecoming a judicial officer,” according to the commission.

Morgan also questioned why a clerk would challenge his authority, noting “all the dead bodies” in his court, according to commission documents. He admitted calling a former judge a “moron” in front of court staff.

Remember, this judge is sending people to jail and administering justice in Federal Way. The judges there are paid $134,622, and I expect total professionalism when I have to pay a ticket in their court.

Judge David Larson stated that Morgan, his colleague on the Federal Way bench, has been “nothing but supportive of me” (Tacoma News Tribune article, Dec. 6). That should say something about how justice is being served up in Federal Way.

Both judges soon will be up for re-election this year. I will surely remember their names and these stories — especially the moron statements — as I’m filling out my ballot and if these good ole boys’ names appear.
