Helping gang-involved youth | Letter

The article “Regional council to help gang-involved youth in Federal Way, other cities” intrigued me because I have met people in the past who said they were in gangs.

The article “Regional council to help gang-involved youth in Federal Way, other cities” intrigued me because I have met people in the past who said they were in gangs. I don’t know if that is true or not but I have seen some good friends of mine go down the wrong path with drugs and crime.

It’s kind of sad, so I thought what if they were actively engaged in something good? Most of these guys who went down the wrong path were good athletes and that was a good activity.

However, I assume it was an adult influence or even neighbors next door causing them to fall into temptation.

To be honest, I think even if we had the perfect solution to this there would still be gangs, drugs and crimes.

However, I do believe that if we can be a good influence to many of these gang members it could change them one way or another. We could try to encourage people to invite those youth involved in gangs to good activities such as sports, recreational activities, church, school clubs or even plays.

Just being a good friend to these youth could go a long way and that is what I feel like we should do.
