Hard-hearted letter? | Federal Way letters, March 23

In the March 21 Mirror, there was an extremely long letter summarizing the recent state legislative meeting in Federal Way concerning the present economic state of affairs for Washington.

There may have been a misprint, for surely the surname of the writer was Hardhearted for only a hard-hearted person could have penned these words:

“Before the bleeding hearts go into the scenarios that it will cost us more in health care as the illegals take their children to hospitals and incur more costs for us, let’s get back to the realization that illegals shouldn’t be able to rack up more debt for us taxpayers… Let the hospitals do their jobs and if they choose to willingly take illegals and their children, let them pay the bill because I am tired of picking up the tab so they can further be a drain on our economy (including jobs).”

By Jove! Let them die in the streets! Damnation to taxation!

Some 2,000 years ago, a humble family made its way to Bethlehem to (GASP!) pay that family’s taxes. A child was born as they made their way.

Though crucified for his beliefs regarding taxes and other matters, “Render unto Caesar…,” etc., one of his teachings that will ever transcend time and place were the words as translated from the ISV Bible:

“I was naked, and you clothed me. I was sick, and you took care of me. I was in prison, and you visited me.”

Rumors abound that this person may return to Earth at some point to render justice. My fear though, should he return, is that the likes of the letter-writer will be there with pitchforks and torches ready to crucify him again.
