Don’t blame conservatives | Federal Way letters

(RE: “Transit center and Faux News,” letters, Sept. 23):

With the assumptions of the letter writer under the above heading, I had to set my oar in the water regarding this.

I go to Fox News to hear and see what I am not getting on the more liberal news venues.

Now it may come as a great surprise, but I do this to get a balanced view because I need to know both sides of the story. Not just the liberal side. I need the conservative view also. A balanced perspective, in other words.

In all of the rhetoric, I have never heard our president called a Nazi, fascist, communist, pedophile or a baby killer by Bill O’Reilly. He has a right to oppose what he does not believe in. He may be a little brash in some of his statements or sentiments, but that is what it is all about — getting both sides and finding a middle that will suit you. It is called freedom of speech.

Now Glenn Beck, he takes a much more radical/activist stance — sometimes too much, but very much “listenable” too.

I, however, do not see the connection with all the guns and killings as listed being loaded onto either of their shoulders. Is there something I am missing here? They are the conservatives — supposedly more moderate in thoughts and actions. Mmmmmm…

People are never going to agree on:

• Abortion vs. right to life

• Gun control, or lack of it thereof

• Death penalty

• Which party to vote for

• Who our president should be

• Guns do not kill — people do

• Did the chicken or the egg come first?

• Etc., etc., and the beat/list goes on.

I cannot in any way, shape or form blame the conservatives for all the evils of this society.

Since the 1950s, family values, ethics and morals have eroded, leaving us with we have today: An unsafe society with no respect for the law.

I feel sure when someone pulls a trigger with intent, the last thing on their minds is “I am a Republican or a Democrat.”

We are the proverbial rats locked in the maze being allowed to multiply, and when numbers get too high, that is when the cannibalism sets in.

Don’t see it changing any time soon.
