Whereas, the city has committed to building a new civic center/performing arts building, it should be taken into consideration of combining that center into a convention center, all in one-plus.

Here we have the greatest aid to businesses and entertainment for our residents. The location would be better served at the AMC location, being a walk across the street from the Federal Way Transit Center and across the street from a hotel.

If the AMC site should be the location chosen, then the work already done at the 316th St./20th Ave. (present location for performing arts building) with improvements of a new concrete sidewalk. Lighting posts and plants could be marked up to “general city improvements.”

Lorie Wood who owns Beaux Art Studios and is a photographer who also served on the Federal Way Arts Commission supports a performing arts and convention center as a means to “bring serious money,” bolstering the city’s hotels and businesses.

I am asking the council to take another look at this plan to oversee and make the business-like opportunity of providing Federal Way a growth movement. I ask that you do what is best for the future of Federal Way.

I would like to leave you with this thought: Volunteers make a better community.
