Big Brother’s electronic eyeballs watch Federal Way drivers | Letters

Not long ago, I submitted a letter to the editor after I witnessed a woman getting her car’s picture taken by a robot camera in a school zone when the lights started blinking after she passed through them.

She read my letter in The Mirror and somehow got my telephone number to call me. I wrote a letter for her to give to the judge when she went to court to defend herself for not observing the warning lights. I do not know how her situation turned out.

Just prior to that, I sent another letter to the editor because two of our family’s cars were robo-flashed at the same school zone in front of Twin Lakes Elementary for going 28 mph in the 20 mph school zone.

I received several calls at home as well as numerous comments at Starbucks and at my church from people who were similarly cited. A couple of them thought it was interesting that they also were sent violation citations for going 28 mph in school zones.

Our family just received another school zone violation citation by mail. Guess what? This third one (I was the guilty party in two of the three) was for going 28 mph.

I have an excuse, but what is the point if Big Brother had his electronic eyeballs on me all the while?

Is it coincidence, conspiracy or bureaucratic laziness that so many school zone violations are for going 28 mph?
