FW business update: New Chamber members, August events

South Sound Young Professionals

The South Sound Young Professionals held their inaugural meeting July 16 at McGrath’s Fish House restaurant in Federal Way. The group is for young professionals ages 21-40 who have an interest in connecting with other young leaders and becoming stakeholders in the community. The group will meet the third Thursday of every month at a different location. The group, affiliated with the Federal Way Chamber of Commerce, will hold meetings and happy-hour mixers as well as participate in community service projects and political discussions. More young professionals are welcome to join and shape the group’s mission. Next meeting will begin at 6 p.m. Aug. 20 at Cafe Pacific, 4402 Auburn Way N., Auburn. Upcoming networking events

A networking breakfast will run 7:30 to 9 a.m. Aug. 14 at Marie Callendar’s, 31920 Gateway Center Blvd. S.

A “business after hours” networking event will run 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 19 at Woodstone Credit Union, 33615 1st Way S.

A block party featuring 13 businesses at Gateway Center will run 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 27 near South 320th Street and I-5 in Federal Way.

A “Business Growth Network” session will run 7:30 to 9 a.m. Aug. 28 at the Federal Way Chamber office, located at the Northwest corner of 1st Avenue South and South 320th Street.

The Federal Way Chamber of Commerce membership luncheon will run 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 2 at Twin Lakes Golf and Country Club. Next luncheon will feature Randy Dorn, state superintendent of public instruction.
